Howdy all, I finished my router about 2 weeks ago, the table is 16 X 32, cutting area is approximately 14 X 26. Runs nice using Mach 3 and Vectric Software. The only issue am having is that I think I am getting too much drag on the leadscrews. I am using 1/2" - 10 Acme threaded rod and brass nuts. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a decent replacement. I would like to keep it to around the 1/2" mark. I do not want to sink too much money into the system as I plan on buying a full size 48 x 96 machine in the next 6 months or so. I will keep this one as a standby and for smaller jobs. |

| I use 1/2"-10 acme screw on my Z Axis with a homemade delrin plastic nut, it works great. I'd like to get a little more speed though, I'm thinking of switching it to 1/2"-8 2 start. Check out some of the Joe's CNC builds, they're using 1/2"-8 2 start, and 1/2"-10 5 start screws with these Anti-Backlash nuts: http://www.dumpstercnc.com/leadnuts_acme.html 1/2"-10 = 0.1" per rev 1/2"-8 2 start = 0.25" per rev 1/2"-10 5 start = 0.5" per rev - Andy |
