I'm not sure this is the right forum for this but here goes anyways. I bought a gantry router, new, no router just the axis frames, motors and controls. Now the wires to the motor are solid four conductor wires. Well if it's going to move in a X, Y direction, why is that?. We discuss all things related to the smooth movement of axis, and focus on getting the controls to run correctly and this is very helpful indeed, but. Some of us are challenged in electrical areas. I'd like to see a list of sources from our members, who have successfully built and or modified a machine, for the types of stuff they used to build, wire, and enclose their machines. I am sure we would see a commonality and could have a suggested list of suppliers. I have this personal need for four conductor 22 AWG stranded wire. I need only 30 feet of it, but have found it a daunting task wading through page, after page, of catologs, finding a supplier. I am by admission a lousy web surfer. What a joy it would be to have the information right here on the zone. Maybe I'm whacked but, could we discuss the possibility of this matter?. |

| Speedre, I agree, We do need to have a suggested list of suppliers for commonly used components we use here. As for the wire, I believe I used 5cond 22awg shielded from home depot. You can get the same from here: http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bi..._W_DRAIN_.html if you have a problem with that link try: http://tinyurl.com/4g3k3z Also, I've found mcmaster to be one of the easier websites to search and find things on. http://www.mcmaster.com go into the search field and type: multiconductor They have a huge selection of wire, but I think they're a bit over priced. Best Regards, Andy |

| Ebay.. Go to Ebay.... http://cgi.ebay.com/100ft-H-Gray-22-...QQcmdZViewItem might be something like what you are looking for. I got all my wire at one point or another from some one (not neccessaraly the guy listing the stuff above) on ebay b. |

| Well I guess the next step should be is to ask the moderators or owners of The CNC Zone to get the ball rolling on a list of common project supplies. I know it may be difficult at first to compile and choose the participants but I think it will all be worth it in the end. This may be the ultimate lexicon for the cnc hobbyists. Well after the posting of the preceding text I tried EBay and purchased some wire. I recently spent three days searching for a suitable deal. This idea may actually work. Lets have more involvement guys, get on board. Last edited by SPEEDRE; 04-10-2008 at 07:21 PM. Reason: More info. |
