WOW...I"TS ALIVE!!

The moment every hobby cnc owner waits for is here! It moved for the 1st time! It's kinda like getting a Grammy Award.....I'ld like to thank all the folks in forum land that took time out of their busy lives to help, my wife for putting up with me for a year while I worked on it, the kids for staying out of the shop, etc.etc.etc.

After a year of working, waiting and saving my CNC router has cut it's first job. Nothing too fancy, just a sign from foam, but how great it is! The combo Mach 3, 203V Geckos and CNC4PC C11G BOB works like a top. Now to just figure out how to program everything to make all those projects I've been dreaming about for a year.

Very nice,

So tell me, what cutting & rapid speeds are you getting, your cutting area, and are you getting a lot of flex with those rails, there's been a bit of talk about that with this kind of design, do you have any issue with it?

The cutting and rapids speed is set to about 40 inches per min. I was worried about the flex also but didn't find that tid-bit of information out untill after I built it. I had to try it before spending the money to change the unsupported rails. So far, the x axis is the only one showing signs of movement. I had to slow down the rapid because of it. But, for homebuilt castings and skate bearings I'm impressed!

Time will tell, I'll have to work my way up to cutting plastics, wood and other stuff.

I lived in Cedar Park until Jan 2007....now in Alexandria, VA for another 18 months or so...then headed back to the Austin area.
