| Each method has it advantages, there is no simple answer. It depends on wether you want low speed power, high rpms, inexpensive drives, power supply restrictions........ Bipolar has more power at low rpms if you use the full windings, but the coil inductance and coil voltage can become a hinderance as you go up in rpms.
