This is my first post so be nice I have been reading forum for a long time and I have finally built my first cnc machine. I was very excited to get it built and seeing it work. But when it came time to see it work or even just move. noooope!!!! No power!! They turn but just cannot move any of the 3 axis very fast or reliable. I have a 4axis driver with allegro chips. This board has a max 2.5 amp output. I have 24v 10amp power supply using mach 3 softwareThe tormach steppers are 350oz @3 amp. So I know my motors cannot operate at max torch. I 2.5 amps would put it around 80% but that still should be enough to move the axis. I am using .5'' acme rod with 20mm linear shafts with bearings. The problem looks like they are binding up or something. I just cannot figure it out. I can turn them my hand and they turn free. And the slide motion is smooth. I was hesitant about posting but I have come to a cross roads and need some help. I dont know if this is even a good place to post. If some can send me to the right string or direction. I would appreciate it |

| What brand is the drive, and is the VREF set correctly?

| The acceleration is rarely a problem, but the speed is. A lower speed will give you a lot more torque. What's the TPI on your acme thread and how fast are you trying to run the machine? Have you tried 10-20 IPM? |
