I know you guys can help me with this. Just working out my Travel speeds and ratios. Disregard actual rates of travel.. What is the ideal ratio for the 3 Axis travel speeds. For example should all 3 Axis travel at the same speed i., 200 in/min or is their an ideal ration between the axis?... or should X be 2 times Y?...something... say, your X Axis is 2 times your Y axis lenght and you wanted your machine to travel the full length and to the furtherest point. If the X & Y are the same speed then the Y axis will reach its designated point in half of the time of X or should they both meet at the same time?.. cheers |

As far as haveing all 3 axis run the same speeds? X and Y should definately be the same. Some of the machines I run at work (full size), Z can only move at 200ipm where X and Y will move 300ipm. If you send all 3 axis to their furtest points, they should get there at the same time. Limited by the slowest of the 3 axis. Gearing ratios have nothing to do with that, as it is software controlled. |
