Hey I have read a few threads on machines being built out of epoxy. Much like I guess a typical milling machine would be cast out of steel people are now casting with epoxy. I plan on building a machine out of heavy I beams. However I got to thinking if I could cast my beams out of epoxy that might be a better alternative. Anyone have much info on this stuff. Where to get it or if its even feasable. can you machine this stuff after pooring. thanks |

| Certainly works for me it's not new.I've been machining on epoxy granite bases for over 10 years (Diamond Machining)- cuts down on vibrations. Here's what my machine manufacturer says:

| well it sounds like great stuff but is it feasable for someone to cast something at home. Im not familiar with the stuff so im not sure. I would like to make the main frame portion of my router with the stuff but have never seen it sold nore gotten a definate answer as to it being done by a non-professional. Heck I really like the idea. If I could find some type of poorable epoxy I would try it with that stuff. I think it coudl be reinforced just like concrete with rebar etc. any ideas |
