Hey all what do you consider to be the stronger more ridged design. The linear rails or the shafts. I will be building a machine designed to mill aluminum so strength is of the upmost importance. I cant have alot of flex or bearing play. I see the linear rails are pretty pricy so im guessing they must be the better of the 2. However I have no experience. what are your ideas thanks |

| Your assumtion is correct. Fully supported using heavy stable cast is best (well...epoxy granite is best...but). Next best is HEAVY steel construction, stress relieving (normalizing) is important.
