| When you say schematic, do you mean differential drivers and receiver IC's ? Check the Renco site for some info. Al.

| A typical encoder IC would be AM26LS31 for line driver, There is not much required in the way of circuitry, look up RS485 line drivers and receivers also. If you want to convert say, a single ended encoder to differential just feed the encoder output into a 26LS31. Al.

the above is what I like to do but need some more direction, so i use 26ls31 as a driver at the encoder.....and at the gecko driver end I would use the matching reciever chip or rs485 reciever? anyone have a drawing to make this little more clearer for me? |

| Apart from the data sheet I don't have a drawing handy, but it is very straight forward, if you are familiar with working with IC's. I use copper strip perf board for 1 offs, which is very usefull. If you use the Dip version of the IC, which is a 16 pin. It is recommended you use a 16 pin socket in case of accidents etc! The hook up is +5v supply to pin 16, common to pin 8 Also take pin 4 to 5v+ and pin 12 to common. Take any single ended encoder signal you need to convert and feed into anyone of the following inputs. Inputs: pin1, pin 7, pin 9 and pin 15. Outputs: Pin 2 = A Pin 3 = /A ------- Pin 8 = A Pin 6 = /A ------ Pin 10 = A Pin 11 = /A ------ Pin 14 = A Pin 13 = /A Where /A channel indicate the complement of A. You do not need a differential receiver if the drive end already is differential compatible. Al.

| AFAIK Gecko drives use single ended encoder signals, so unless you are looking specifically to transmit encoder signals in differential manner then you may not need differential encoders, other wise you would require differential encoders or differential conversion as previously mentioned and a differential receiver to convert to single end on the Gecko end.
