| Those are 3.6 degree motors in the auction. I just finished my 1st machine, so I don't have tons of experience, but here you go: Not sure for balsa and foam, but I can say a 285oz w/allthread runs a ryobi full size router thru mdf pretty well. Maybe a 100oz or so? You have to get enought torque to "power thru" the little defects you get in allthread. To light and i bet it would stall or move REALLY slow. I built a heavy MDF gantry and using allthread. I bought my stepper driver from thecncgeeks.com, works great w/ Mach3 ($100.00). I just went there to check, they offer a couple different stepper motors now for a good price. Not sure if we are supposed to advertise for others on here, sorry if not. I bought my 3 285 oz bipolar motors off of ebay ($112 total). Of course, match the motors to the driver, or get a driver that does uni and bi polar. I went to a thrift store and got 3 24VDC 1.8 amp power adapters for a laptop. I hooked them in parallel to get close to 6 amps 24VDC ($27.00) |
