I'm interested in converting my cnc router from a Porta Cable router to a spindle motor. Does any one here know of a good single phase model and maybe any input on the advantages? Any leads as to where to buy one? Thanks Duraflap |

| All spindle motors use VFD's so you just need to find a VFD that will output the needed Hertz from a single phase supply. Do you want a new one or used? A new 3hp 18k rpm will be ~$1,600 + vfd.

| I just did a thread http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49312 on the subject. Post 8 outlines the electrics I coupled with the ericksom carlson spindle. was much cheeper to couple there spindle with electrics from Automation direct. Was able to afford all the nice input and output signal cleaners as well with the money saved.. The VFD drive I got can accept single or 3 phase power as input. Basicly a VFD takes input converts it to DC then back to 3 phase AC output so with the model I listed you could give it 2 hots of 110v each (which makes 220v) leaving the third input blank or if you have 3 phase connecting all 3 inputs. Uses less amps if you run it 3 phase input. b. |

| Well I ran a Porter cable and updated to the vfd. Most of the reason was noise. But it is better then the PC. Or nicer to use or what ever you want to say. Bits and tools not heating is reason to switch (routers run hotter. least then my vfd is currently..) I really don't run my machine long enough to justify it but work upgraded it for me so I could not pass it up.. My PC is for sale as well. check the clasifieds. Lots of extras going with it (collets, quick switch tool holders and clamps. b./ |
