Greolt,
Yes, a lens cover would be a good thing to fit. I found a powered USB hub was needed as the camera must draw a bit too much for the USB port on my old clunker of a computer.
Windows XP users this driver on my computer
Microsoft WDM Image Capture (Win32) Version 5.1.2600.2180

Greolt,
I tried plugging my camera into the USB port and then using the "Found new hardware" utility to set it up. I could not find the "Microsoft WDM Image Capture".
Is it part of the normal MS XP install or where can I download it, and use it to start the camera?
Thanks
Hager

you need the drives for that particular webcam, not a microsoft one.

Hi Mark,
Here is a listing of them on ebay. This link will obviously expire after a while but it should be good for a couple of months.
here
Trick is to unscrew the aluminum cap, adjust the plastic lens by turning about half a turn anti-clockwise as a starting point. Pointy nose pliers come in handy.
Don't be limited by this camera as others should work as well.
The crosshairs are in Mach3 in the video screen.

Just bought myself one of these cameras. I havent made the mount yet but its attached to a 5m USB extension plugged into a USB2 port. Unfortunately the frame rate is down to 1 every couple of seconds any ideas how I could improve frame rate?

I had trouble with the camera until I fitted an external powered hub. It also needs to be a USB 2 port that it is connected to.

Thanks Rod thats an improvement in frame rate.

I have a problem with the mouse move in the video window. The Y axis jogs correctly but the Z axis moves in the opposite direction. Is their a way of reversing this? Also the dro and mouse cooridinates in the video window are not clear. Do you have the same problem?

Cheers

Liam

Hi Liam,
Not sure if it will work by try Flip Image and see if it travels in the right direction.
Yes my on screen coordinates are not that clear as well. I suspect it is something to do with the video card on the computer. I am at my desk so I don't have a camera connected to try it out but try going into General Config in Mach3 and in Screen Control there are two options - "Hi-Res Screens" and "Auto Screen Enlarge". Try these one at a time to see if there is an improvment. You might have to close the video window each time to test it.

Tried all your suggestions Rod . Unfortunatly nothing changed. I even moved the cross hairs through 90,180,270,360 deg and no change. I will have to post on the Mach forum.

Thanks Liam

Hi Liam,
The only other thing I can think of is that you might need to rotate the camera in the holder. Place a ruler under the camera and see if it reads correctly for the two axes. If not then rotate the camera until it does.

Hi Rod,

I had already rotated the camera to read correctly. I think it may have something to do with my Z axis is reversed in Motor Home/Soft Limits.

Appreciate the help.

Liam
