| Buildyourcnc.com stepper motors I'm looking to build the router off the website buildyourcnc.com, and am trying to work out what stepper motors i will need. The longest axis will travel 1m, and i am going to use the hobbycnc board and modify an atx power supply. I do not know anything about stepper motors and was wondering if some could help me find a cheap solution, i am in the UK so pref a UK company or ebay UK. I've had a little look around and was wondering if any of these would be suitable. http://www.motioncontrolproducts.co....products_id=10 http://www.motioncontrolproducts.co....&products_id=6 Thanks David |

| David, I used these- FL57STH76-2808B - about 260 oz/in on my machine I had to have a go! I now have drivers and power supply from motion control products as well, I'm sure they will work but I did find mine were on the limit with a 24v supply.

| Are these motors unipolar, as i know they have to be with the hobbycnc controller. Is the Other motor better better as it has 3Nm. I know you usually get what you pay for. Thanks David |

| I'm sure the larger motor will be better but you may not get the full advantage without increasing the size of power supply, as far as i understand the motors can be wired unipolar if they have more than 4 wires, but I've only wired bipolar with the drivers I have used. I now use the MSD542 drivers.

| Both spec sheets http://www.motioncontrolproducts.co....TH76-2808B.pdf and http://www.motioncontrolproducts.co..../FL60STH86.pdf give specs for unipolar and bipolar. Wiring unipolar gives a slight reduction in holding torque
