| hello I am new to CNC diy, and just have a few questions... I am using 3 X MSD542 from Motion Control Products Ltd, driving 3 X FL60STH86STH motors. I'd like some thoughts on wiring in series or in parallel, does anyone favour one over the other and if so why.. I am hoping for a machine which has a bias for accuracy over speed, ( but it would be nice if it doesn't go too slow! ). any useful wiring tips etc would also be great.. many thanks for any help everyone.. | Hi, If you envisage running your motors at less than 500 RPM wire them series; over 500 RPM wire them parallel. Wiring series will give you more torque at lower speeds were parallel will give more torque at higher speeds. I think you will be able to download a torque curve chart for your steppers from their website which should show the differences in wiring methods. |
