| You have to add the 6" of travel, plus the length of two bearings, plus the spread between the two bearings, and then a couple of inches for safety. I'd say 6" travel, 4" for two bearings, 3" spread, 2" safety = 15" rail length. But this could be as little a 8" or as much as 20" depending upon your machine design. T |

| that would depend on how you plant to mount to them but normaly you need the amount you want to travel plus the size of your cariage I am still new to this but I have been milling over my z axis and am yet to com up with a idea I like that is not huge or bulky |
