Hey guys, I'm finally getting close to finish my cnc router and was wondering what kind of bit would I need? I have a 1/4 router. I will be cutting thing like wood, carbon fiber and g-10, maybe some 1-2mm aluminum sheet. What type of bit would I need for those different materials and where can I get them? Thanks |

| To start with try a 1/4 in. upcut 2 flute spiral bit, or endmill, and a 1/4 and a 1/2 in. V bits. You can get these from Enco, Grizzley, or Victor. You can also get an adapter to allow you to use 1/8 in. shank bits for finer work.

| For wood, I have lots of bits. Money well spent. For cutting model airplane parts I use .06 dia bits. Need a collet adapter for that one. Most of the time I cut with either a .125 or .25 router bit. I also use a 90 degree and 60 degree vee bits. You can get the 90 degree bit at Lowes or Home Depot, but the 60 and 120 degree bit I needed to mail order. Don't be afraid to browse the hardware store. They sell carbide bits. For the Aluminum and carbide, you will need shop on-line, sorry no suggestions there. Dave |
