I am still collecting more information before jumping in to building a CNC router, and am looking for some advice on stepper motor ratings. I plan to build a 3'x3' table, construction using extruded aluminum for most of the frame and machined aluminum parts for the gantry assembly. I would like to use a Porter Cable router in my design. I plan to use this to primarily cut out wood pieces approximately 3/8 thick. I see a lot of stepper motors rate at 250-300 in/oz, my question is are these going to be strong enough for my application? I appreciate any advice on this, or if anyone has built a kit of similar size I would be interested in recommendations as well Thanks Kevin |
