profits from cnc machines

has anyone made any money from their cnc machines, be it routing or plasma cutting?

Very interested to know. Have you made enough money to cover the cost of building/buying the machine.

What bits are people making?

I make rotor blades for remote control micro helicopters. My machine runs 4 hours a day, and yes, it has paid for itself many many times over.

Yes, not only has my mill cnc retrofit paid for itself, it has paid for the mill and is providing the funding for the 4x8' router i've started building.

My machines have paid for themselves in the fact that I can sell (and have sold) them for more than it cost me to build them.

Hell and I thought I'd have to do super 3-D releife carvings and sculptures in order to make that kind of money. To generate code to do something like that would take no time especially if you had the right router bits. I might be able to make some money at this stuff one day after all, just as soon as I buy the rest of the tools that I need for work .
