Hi everyone, this is my 1st post to these boards. Been lurking here for a while reading and learning. So much info here its amazing. Anyways to the point. Im going to make a small spindle based on the ideas of some people here and use an er16 collet chuck for starters. The trouble is i dont know a great deal about electronics, just the basics. I was going to use this motor from surplus center Item# 10-1783-A. Its the 2.5hp one. But what exactly would i need to power it ? The DC motor controllers they stock state they do up to 2hp motors with extra heatsinks and such. But would they work with this motor ? If anyone could help me out and show me what i would need to order to use this motor it would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah im from Australia to so i need something that works with 240v. Kieron |

| This is the link http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.as...item=10-1783-A These are the low man on the totem pole as far as DC spindle motors are concerned, to run them on 240v, look for KB SCR drives or relabeled Baldor and others on ebay. You can set these DC drives for 90vdc motor. The surplus centre often have some higher quality motors, IIRC some are rated at higher voltage. Al.
