Just wondering if anyone has ever come up with a good way to re-direct cooling air from the router.. I use a PC 3.25hp router and a dust skirt with my dust collector. I have often through if the high speed air comming out of the router was not blowing on the work piece the dust collection would be more efficient or at least work a bit better since the dust would be be getting blown around by that air.. b, |

| Just saw how the k2 sweeper fits in. I have the opening for my skirt such that it is a circle open the size of the bottom of the router. Theirs hang down more and have a small hole large enough for the router colet/nut to stick through. So I guess I'll scoot my router higher in it's clamp, make the skirt hang down lower (maybe trim it a bit to) and have the air go between them and the clamping plate. b./ |

| I had the same problem with my Bosch router. It blew down like nothing I’d ever seen. I went with a smaller hole as I think you are talking about. It needs to be easily removable if you are going to do this. I just used longer router mount bolts to hold the shelf. It works great. Steve |

| that is a nice looking machine. Really like the nice ply work. Anyway I have not posted many pics of my machine since the build but this one (while a mess) actually shows a good shot of my dust collection sweeper thing and how the router is mounted. Basicly I made the hole for the sweeper so it met with the router base and helped align it and when attached the router would slip through the large hole and it would be more or less flush with the aluminum router motor clamp bottom. The bolt shafts slide in holes in the router clamps then thum screws in the clamps are used to tighten them down... pretty easy setup I suppose.. Next time I have a shot I will make an adapter to make the hole smaller and scoot the router up in the clamps a bit or something. Was more thinking of giving my self extra reach mounting things like this and alowing the fingers of the broom to stay as long as they could (ie if you slip the router up more to let the air out then less length in the bit).. that is espeiclly true for the PC routers since the arangement of the bit/collet/motor shaft is a little bit shorter (over all) I think then my bosh router.. b. |
