| Hey Apples, Is this site what you are talking about? http://www.super-tech.com/root/emc/x...fault_main.asp If you look at this for example http://www.super-tech.com/root/Products/xyyz-kit3b.htm They are asking $2850 American bucks About $3500 Australian. I built a complete 3 axis servo machine for that price including power supply and every thing. It may pay to do some more research. I haven't had any dealings with them in the past but from the site prices I reckon you could do better sourcing parts from Ebay. I could be wrong though. Oh, and to be a real snob, they cant even spell Performance they spell it on many occasions "proformance". http://www.super-tech.com/root/emc/xyyz/proformance.asp I would expect correct spelling for that money. | As far as controllers. You could get 3 Geckos, a breakout board, and a toroid power supply w/cap for about $800. For the $800 you know your getting top of the line components. Plus the fun of learning how it all works. |

| Thanks guys, i thought that was a bit pricey. I am a bit worried that if i go and buy bits and pieces from here and there that they may not work together and that i may not know how to hook them up. Which is why I was looking at a kit. Does Gecko boards and the like all come with instructions on how to hook them up? Also how do i know what programs will run with certian controllers? Do they tell you in a information pack etc. I want to be able to scan an image then cut it out with a plasma, Torchmate systems can do this. I think they use FlashCut. Will FlashCut work with Gecko's etc. Yes it would be good to do it myself to really understand how things work. Apples |
