I bought 3 used steppers for my first CNC project. However, they all came with either metal or plastic gears attached to them. I've tried pulling them out without any luck and I do not want to break my steppers. Is there a mini gear puller/remover or is there a gadget described in this forum on how to do it? Thanks all for the help. |

| I have successfully removed the brass gears from some steppers by gripping the gears in a vise and tapping on the shaft of the motor using a punch and hammer. Another option i have thought about is cutting into the gears using a hacksaw blade and then splitting them off with a cold chisel. |

| Find a local hobby shop that sells parts and supplies for R/C cars and 4wd trucks. They sell, or can get for you, a small gear puller. With a little effort and some hand tools you can make one relatively easily. CarveOne
