Which machine do I need

Hi,

I just bought my plans from Rockcliffe the other day and was wondering what machine I should build. I'm going to be cutting wood and foam to make molds for vaccuforming. The first thing I want to make is a '57 Chevy toy box for my son's hot wheels. I'll include a pic at the end of this post. Now I thought a 3-axis machine would be capable of doing it bit I think I need a 4-axis. If I only wanted to do it in foam would the 4-axis foam cutter be capable of cutting the front and side details?

I can use all the help I can get.

You should be able to use a 3 axis and cut each half seperately, then join them together.

thanks for the quick reply.

would I still use my dremmel for foam? or do I need a special bit? how deep would it be able to cut? will the dremmel get in the way? I was thinking of making the toy box 14" wide, do that's 7" per half.

you could probably "decompose" the car even further into more easily routed parts... hood, trunk door, wheel, quarter panel.
