Router project questions (lots)

Ok, I new here. I just found this site a month ago after thinking about making a benchtop mill into CNC. I've been persueded not to try that. I have now acquired an old gantry table made by Techno-Isel. I called the company to ask about info and computer requirement, software etc. I got a response that I would need to upgrade to servos instead of stepper motors and it would only cost $5k. I really want to use this hardware as it is. I have the table with the motors, the drive powersupply and the interface card for a PC. I have found a PC that will take the card and run in DOS or Windows 98. I now need software and drivers for the PC. Can any one direct me as to how to proceed to get this project running. I want to use this setup to do some engraving. Sorry for the long post.

You'll need to post more specific info on your drives and interface, as well as motor specs. If your drives accept step/direction signals, you have a lot of options. If not, it may be easier and cheaper to get new drives.
