Posted so others are better informed. I purchased a stepmasternc 4 axis driver off ebay from cncsupply but after nearly 3 weeks have had nothing. The excuses given went like this: 1. Will look into it. 2. Should have been sent. Filed a dispute with paypal as no contact for a week and request for post receipt ignored. He the quickly said it HAD been sent from the US and will be with me this week, even though the description said scotland. Paypal automatically refunded due to no proof of postage, although I was going to wait it out. I then heard from him again but now he says because paypal refunded I will need to pay to have one sent. Also he will now claim the money back from the royal mail. This seems odd given at no time did he supply me with a copy of the postal receipt which Im sure you need to claim back but even more odd is that the item according to a previous email was sent from the US last week. I assume not covered by the royal mail. On a more positve note I am happy as given the lack of customer service, if I had received it and it had a fault I would be left high and dry. I will now have to look at other options to complete my machine. Quite fustrating as I had hoped it would have been finished by now. UPDATE: Having had to leave a negitive comment on ebay, as he has had my money since the 27th but due to not being willing to prove shipment paypal has automatically refunded, he has now replied with a lie as follows: Reply by cncsupply (14-Aug-07 18:21): ridiculous, buyer withheld payment. NO MONEY = NO SHIPMENT Funny that now he states no money, NO SHIPMENT when hes stated on numerous occasions whilst he had my money that he had shipped it. Id suggest to anyone to think twice about buying from this seller as even if you were to receive the item I doubt you would get any after sales service. | After all the hassle and him negging me I found out that it was he who refunded as I spoke to paypal and he had options opened to him! It seems he never sent the item as I thought. To be quite honest I am glad because given this would have been my first real outlay (I built my first driver from uln2803) I probably would have needed the support which I dont think he would have provided. Anyway would people recommend the Hobbycnc Pro as a suitable replacement? |

| Hi, What specs do you need from the drives (Amps Volts)? I hear nothing but good things about Hobbycnc so would not be a bad thing buying from them. I personally use drives from http://www.motioncontrolproducts.co.uk/ and find them very reliable. I did have a drive fault sometime ago and sent it back for a replacement with out problem. John |

| I would use motion control as I bought my 1.86nm motors from them but their prices on drivers is out of my budget. I did consider hobbycnc to begin with but went with stepmasternc because it was closer, ie scotland, and already soldered. Im happy it fell through as someone else has had a problem and is now having to send it back to the US. Am I right in thinking that the pro has some sort of circuit protection? |

| I don’t know much about the hobbycnc board but have a look at Xylotex boards/kits as another alternative. I had a Xylotex quite a while ago now (still have it somewhere kicking about) while I used it I had no problems at all and reading this forum you will find it is highly praised and very commonly used so piles of feed back here. The Xylotex I have came from www.simplycnc.com (a UK supplier) not sure if they still do them. It would be interesting to know how prices compared with such as hobbycnc and MCP ltd’s drives after shipping, import tax and so on. You will need to go to the Hobbycnc site and read up on their board and if you have any specific questions post a question. Best of luck, John |

| Hi freddean, bro these are the same people I got my kit from eventually after 1 month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do sympathise with you and have to agree even after they said they sent it they didn't and messed up my order 3 times!!!!! and even to this day I haven't recieved the power cord they should of sent with the package. Yep these guys are 1st class asshats and I ceratinly would never recommend them and advise anyone to avoid them like the plague their service is rubbish and communications are poor. I wish now that I had gone with Motion control products or rout out CNC or any other ones than these. I agree its only right that anyone reading this should be made aware. |

i'd suggest getting in contact with ebay and let them know what has happened and his response to your feedback , if youve got proof of payment and he has no proof of postage as well as his contradictory emails then i would drop it all on them (ebay) has bad feedback come back on you over this ? |

| Thanks for the replies. I may look into the other makes. Kammo1, sorry to hear that you had to deal with them aswell. Im sortof glad that he didnt send it as I dont think his after service would be very good given how many lies he said before Id gotten the drivers. He has left a reply to my feedback but it isnt shown on my profile? I have contacted ebay but nothing but canned response as yet. I will try again later in the week. The only really pain is that it took three weeks out of my build time and now Im too busy and have other things too do. Kammo1, have you started making your cnc yet? |
