Hello all, I came across this site thanks to a link on ebay selling plans and now I really fancy building a CNC router to assist me with my model railway hobby. The only problem is I'm totally new to the CNC world and have no idea if a CNC router would be able to produce what I'm after. I would like to produce the roofs from diesel locomotives out of styrene (plastic), I'm not too bothered about panel detail because I can add that by hand but producing the uniform profile of a curving roof would be tricky. I've attached an image of a prototype I would like to make, as you can see it has quite a domed shape above the cab and producing duplicates would be a nightmare by hand. I suppose casting would be an alternative but where's the fun in that! ![]() Would one of these machines be capable of making what I'm after? Any advice appreciated, Paul Last edited by paul_l; 08-09-2007 at 07:01 AM. |

Yeah sorry about that, I posted lastnight and realised I forgot to add it but I couldn't edit my post because it was awaiting approval. Thanks, Paul Last edited by paul_l; 08-09-2007 at 09:56 AM. |
