possible to make your own flex-couplers?

Is it possible to make a coupler on your own flexible couplers?

I am making a machine that will probably have 200+oz stepper
motors.

I have seen the flex tube used for a homemade coupler, but
I am not sure about the torque it can handle.

Trying to make this machine as cheap as possible...I see the couplers
cost upwards of $25.00 each!

Thoughts on how to make your own?

Take a quick look at dumpstercnc. He has some made of delrin, bored/sliced and then set with brass inserts for tightening.
You could probably replicate the effort - but may be worth purchasing

These work well. Notice for one coupling you need to purchase 2 hubs and one spider. Provides for going from one bore size to another. Probably less than $10/coupler.

Or just use a small length of stiff hose - like hydraulic hose.

What do you use to secure it to the shafts? Hose clamps?
