Hello, Im thinking of combining a hobbycnc 4axis driver and the following stepper motor http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...5862&rd=1&rd=1 with this power supply (36v 9a+) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/350W-36V-9-7A-...QQcmdZViewItem Does anyone know if its compatible? Is 9amps too much? Thanks |

| the motors will only draw what curent they want, think about the national grid how many amps is that? but your light bulb only uses what it needs ![]() voltage will work but 20 times rated stepper voltage would be better, but then I don't know the board, perhgaps that is only rated to 40volts...

| The board maxes out at 42volts. So if I were to run a 2 X axis, y and z would I need to add the ampage of the motors together to calculate which supply I would need. The motors run unipolar at 2.8v 2.8amps. Would that mean if x,y and z were running I would need at least 11.2amp power supply? 4 motors at 2.8amp? |

| Well yes that's how it adds up but... and there's always a but you're never likely to have all 4 motors going at once flat out demanding all that current so in short then that power supply will be fine. There would be no harm in using a bigger amperage power supply if you found one...motors draw more current the harder they have to work
