Initially I thought it would be simple to make a "shoe" to put around my router for catching dust. I was dead wrong. No part of my system has been more challenging. After experimenting with different configurations I finally decided that the only thing that would please me would be a floating system. But how to do it? I finally came up with something and I wanted to post a video. You guys probably already have something better than this. But for me it was a breakthrough. The video, at 11.8mb, is too big. It think there's a way to post it but I can't figure it out. So I'll post a pic. After I watched the video I realized that other problems are evident. One thing I don't like about my machine is the noise it makes. I'm satisfied that it's the result of having used rack and pinion exclusively. The Z is particularly noisy. I hope that someone will have suggestions for making it more tolerable. Oh, by the way, this is just an MDF prototype. http://ProjectCNC.wordpress.com |

| Very nicely engineered machine, I'm sure the dust extraction shoe will do the trick. One question, what model router are you using and how do you like it? It looks like one that I've been thinking of getting (Bosch GMF1400CE) Thanks.

Thank you. Here's one where I was converting the MDF prototype to aluminum and plexiglas. http://ProjectCNC.wordpress.com |
