| trent2530 Trent - Real nice! Like the idea of moving the computer to the machine too - youl'll find a use for the first machine I bet. Do you have an estimate of the "ballparkl" costs of building the #2? You got the Wisecarver numbers - how about the rest? Are you getting down to the "smallest" mark on the tape measure -- and the speeds are they up to your expections? All - in - all, a very good presentation of the thought and effort. Havent seen that color Humvee yet though - lol cheers - Jim

| Ballpark costs? Dualvee and track $223, steppers - 3 for $121, Gecko 201's - $114 times 3, power supply - $65, computer - $50, already had the monitor. About $900 altogether. Speed is an honest 60 ipm on 24 vdc and will double if I go to 48 vdc with the same power supply. 230vac in will give 48vdc out. I don't have a number to express the accuracy, but it is tight will no flexing. I did find a use for the first cnc router, the parts were used for the second. The first one was a loose goose. |

| What is the travel of each axis? Very niceley done. I have enjoyed reading your website for the last 8 months. Thanks for sharing.

| Plans? I'm thinking about it. I would like to improve this one first. Bishop Wisecarver has a pdf catalog at their website, just click on the dualvee pictures until you see it. It shows sizes measurements and all the good stuff about the dualvee wheels. As for the offset hole, picture a hex bolt with a hole drilled the long way through it. And the hole isn't centered, as always. As the bolt is turned the hole and the axis for the wheel will move sideways. In my case, farther or closer to the wheel on the other side of the y axis board or the z axis board. This way the four wheels can put the squeeze on the board. The size of the slotwall x axis board is 28" by 24". Actual cutting area is about an inch less than that. Z axis travel is 5". And to be honest, the wood carving duplicator on my site didn't work, it should have been made of metal. The first cnc router did work but too much flex and no speed. The 4th axis might have worked, but the software for 4th axis was beyond my budget for now. And the latest design hasn't cut anything yet. I'm now wading through the software nightmare. So I suggest my website be used as just general info to help one get an idea of how to do cnc. Even info on the mistakes can be useful. Trent |
