| hi, new to cnc ground up fab. i was wornding if i mounted a piece of 1" cold roll steel on top and on bottom of a 3" c-channel shoud be strong enough for a 48" x96" router/plasma table for x,y axis i plan on useing 608zz skateboard bearing 6 on top and 6 on bottom . and what size of steppers do i need ? i find some at hobbycnc.com the size is 305oz-in unipolar rating, 6v, 2A, 200 S/R is that enough for router and plasma table |

| Hobbycnc is a great company. On the 305 motors for that size machine I personally would use at least 700 oz/inch motors for the xy table driven with gear rack. If your gantry is heavy and you want to rapid quickly you will need stronger motors. Madvac had his 1100 oz/inch motors stall on his router. Servos are the next step but this causes the price of your router build to soar. Jason |
