I am wanting to build/ buy a cnc machine that can handle cutting out 1" thick patterns out of solid oak and walnut. shape will be like a wood shelf bracket. can anyone give me a suggestion on what i should look at to build or buy? |

| Are you weighing more towards DIY or buying one? How much experience do you have in metalworking or basic machinery in woodworking/metalworking to build one? You said you need something that can handle 1" thick patterns, you mean in several passes right? But you need it to be able to cut stuff up to 1" thick or more? There are a few open source builds here are the zone under project log, diy and most popular by demand joe's and the jgro. I built and run a joes 06 and cut solids all the time. Works well with proper feeds and speeds. |

woodworking side i have built furniture and cabinets. couple passes would be fine on cutting mostly 3/4-1" thick wood. |
