Source for 4 conductor wire for steppers?

Where's a good source for 22 gauge 4 conductor wire to use for hooking up the steppers? Most wire I find is 24 gauge or higher.

Also, what are people using for connectors - DIN, XLR, etc.

Thanks

*most steppers are wired with 22AWG wires, so thats what you can use to wire them to drivers.

For 22 AWG you could goto Home Depot and ask for Secuirty Camera wire.

I am using trailer light wire that is from walmart. It is 18 awg non shielded but I was able to get 24' for 8 dollars. I will be using sheilded wire for my limit and home switches.

I then be using a 4 post barrier strip with soldierless connections. Attach the one near the controller and one near the stepper. this way I know that the connection cannot be pulled out. Once my machine is done I will be making covers to go over the barrier strips so that nothing can come across and short it out. Picture of barrier stip is attached.

I would imagine you'd be using SWG or seeing as how India is in the modern world.... Metric

Possible...yup but personally I use Ölflex flexible wire. I think the Cat5 would be too brittle.

Dear CPierce18,

I could be wrong, but I think that most CAT 5 cables would be struggling with the current. Most CAT 5 cables are 24 or 26 awg. The guy wants 22 awg.

Best wishes

Martin

CAT5 is 24AWG, probably not big enough. Flexibility would be OK if you used stranded rather than solid CAT5, also called patch cable.
