Which of these two stepper motor manufacturers is the better of the two? Superior Electric Slo-Syn M091-FD-09 (also 440) or ASTROSYN 34PM-C049 Both units above 1.7vdc 4.7a 200 step Nema 34's and are unipolar. I am considering the purchase of one brand or the other for my first cnc project. I'm looking to build a 2'x4' steel gantry / table. Will these be sufficient for this? (Geckodrives) I would apprieciate any input... Thanks! Jeff |

| Don't have any hands on with either motor. Try a Google for the companies. The specs being the same, I would expect the toque to be close on both. All other thing being the same look at the bearings, balls or bronze sleeves. Then its down to the cost. If they cost the same, roll dice. As far as 'will they work'; depends on the table construction. The better you build it the better it will work. 180 oz/in I would consider for a small/medium size table, but what are you hoping to do with the table? Milling 1/2" alum and 1/2" balsa are night and day. Bill |
