Bought a Hitachi M12VC!!

Opened the box went to swap the 1/2" collet for the 1/4" and I have 2 of the 1/2" and NO 1/4"....

Called the Lowes I bought it from and they checked the last 2 boxes and the display and they all had 2 1/2" collets also!

I called Hitachi and left a voicemail. Will see how fast they can rectify the situation.

but I did power it up... and it is QUIET compared to the old Crapsman err Craftsmen router I am using

Tell me about it, before i got mine that's the most thing i heard owners of them stressing on, so when i got mine that was the very first thing i checked just to see what all the fuss was about, all i could say was "dang", it is really a nice router, just have to see how long it'll hold out, i plan on doing quite a bit of cutting.

I just bought my M 12VC at the Hitachi Reconditioned Store site for $75.00. Has the same warranty and is guaranteed to meet all factory specs. Will see what it looks like when I get it.

Only took Hitachi about 1 week to get me the 1/4" collet... got a 2nd one a couple days after that.

This is a good router for the money. Just watch the brushes. I'm at the end of my 3rd set in about 1.5 years. Not sure how many hours, but it's been a bunch.

Follow up - the router arrived and is absolutely perfect. All parts were there including the 1/4 and 1/2 inch collets and everything else that is normally included. Great deal, great price.

I bought one too. I also saw (and emailed them on) that despite their claims they get and pass on a great UPS shipping proce I paid them $11.36 vs the $7.71 UPS online quotes. They thanked me for pointing that out, blamed UPS and still I was charged $11.36. It was still a great price even with the shipping issue.

I think mine was missing two pieces. I had a hex key (allen wrench) that fit a loose screw in the box. I think mine was missing the second screw and the piece that goes in the base for an adpater. Did you get those?

I got everything that was listen in the owners manual. Hex key, screws, alignment pin, and collets. I did not pick up the shipping issue, but I did not pay that much attention to it.

My M12VC died the other night in the middle of some cuts. I checked the brushes - no probs there. I was ready to pull the whole thing apart when I realized the cord had snagged during a rapid.

Duh!
