I found this Wafer prober at Boeing surplus the other day. It has all the components to be a 4 axis router. The small brass round table has vacuum hold down and A & Z movement. In testing, it has enough X and Y travel to cut the outside of a 6" x 7" block. I also found the Thompson rail with truck at the surplus store. I'll use it for Z and mount a trim router on it. The power supply and stepper controller are in a seperate box. Just need to figure out how to hook up the computer to it. Will post pictures as I put it all together. Jeffrey PS Almost forgot, I paid $200 for the probe and the rail. Last edited by gonejunking; 04-16-2007 at 02:38 PM. Reason: price |

I built one yesterday for fun! All sourced from visits to skips (except the motors and controllers) I have a thought it's going to be quite accurate once I run another belt down the other side of the X axis! This weekend I may build a rotary table for it as I have some optical camera lens adjusters knocking around. Keep on dumpster diving matey :yay: Oh I didn't realise you'd paid for the prober :mybad: .....Or just a skiprat Keep on building then matey
