I just mounted a Trim Router I bought from Home Depot on my homebuilt CNC table. Take a look at the attached JPGs of a 4.5 inch diameter spur gear I cut out of MDF. I have few questions. Where can I but a decent lightweight router spindle? Do you need an adjustable speed spindle for cutting wood and plastics? Thx for any help Last edited by barnon; 04-12-2007 at 01:13 PM. |

| Hi nice job on the gear. Looking closely it looks like you did the outer cut in two passes? Can I see a bit of a lip going on there; are you loosing steps or could it be a bit of backlash? Just out of interest how did you hold the material down to the table? As for cutting wood; imo a variable speed router is a must or you will get burning issues and reduces tool life. Where to get a spindle from; I will leave that for members on your side of the pond. John |
