Hey! My first post. I got a problem with dust collection. I have a shroud attached to my router that has 1-1/2" brushes attached. For most of my work they leave a quarter inch gap, or so, between themselves and the work, which is generally 5/8" MDF. A lot of the dust is collected but on some cuts I get a nice rooster tail of chips and dust that scoot through that gap and into the air and onto the floor (Mmmm. MDF dust!) The shroud height isn't adjustable otherwise the solution would be obvious. I've Googled around but it seems like 1-1/2" height for brushes is kind of standard. Anybody know a source for longer shroud brushes? |

| this may be a stupid answer, do you have any room left in the collet, ie. could you insert the router bit .25 deeper into the collet. this would only apply if the shroud moved with the router. Last edited by jimbo; 03-21-2004 at 03:42 PM. |

| do a search on the internet for industrial brush and you will get more information then you can ever go through. I have talked with several companies for other projects and they are more than happy to help. Matt |

| Mcmaster Carr has those brushes in horse hair. I bout some 3" long ones. Also have nylon and diferent channels to hold the brushes. I think they were under conveyor brushes. I need to come up with a new system. Some times I use bits that stick out 3/4" under the collet and other times 4" long under the collet. And I use the full length of the bits. So I have 4" of travel of the bit. Brushes don't deflect that much. Donny |

| I second McMaster Carr, and I think they are cheaper compared to most places I've seen. They have varying lengths and styles. I've bought a few of the nylon bristle ones in 2" and 3" and have been very happy with them. McMaster-Carr You can look around the web for "conveyor strip brushes" or "strip brushes".
