Question What wires to use?

Hi -
I am tryign to figure out what wires to use for the stepper motors. I know everyone has had to run longer wires from the controller board to the stepper motors.

I went to home depot last night and seemed like the wires were to stiff to allow everything to move easily. Would like to know what everyone uses and where they get their wire from?

Also what do you use to keep everything neat on the router so the wires do not bind up the machine or get in the way.

Thanks -

They recommend shielded wiring. I purchaced 6 conductor plus groung plus a shielding wrap on E-Bay for a reasonable price. Do a search for stepper wiring or something like that. I see some people use nonshielded cable. There are enough hurdles to have a cnc work properly. I wouldn't start by intentionally
using parts that can easily create problems. I think I paid about $13 for 40'
of shielded. This is my first cnc project and my table always works with no surprises. I've learned to trust it.
Also I think it's 18 0r 20 ga......each conductor has 7 strands.

Ebay for sure for wire..

I got some good 2 conductor 16 gage that flexes nice and is shielded along with some 4 conductor 22 gage for the incoders that also flexes and is shielded. I run all of them down the same plastic chain guide and don't get any noise that I have seen... I still probably have 100+ ft of each after I was done.
