As I have posted in another thread, I am considering using acme screws for my Solsylva build and someone recommended Dumpster AB lead nuts. I looked them up and it doesn't appear there is a convenient way to connect them to the gantry. I had thought about using two of these with the flat ends facing out. This would allow me to bookend these two nuts with a piece of angle from the bottom of the gantry. They are about $15 apiece and would like to avoid using four instead of two. I am also worried about doing it this way because joining them this way would put the two small ends facing each other and didn't know if this would cause a problem. Anybody have any ideas about using them this way? I also considered just using the regular metal ACME nuts from ENCO since the original plans use regular threaded rod couplers. |

| I haven't seen the Solsylva plans, but you shouldn't need to use 2 of the Dumpster nuts per screw.

| Correct me if I am wrong, but at the bottom of the page where the DumpsterAB nuts are listed there is a link there for flange options: http://www.dumpstercnc.com/leadnuts_flanges.html Isn't this what you want for connecting them to the gantry? BobL. |
