Servo runaway

So I purchased the Rutex 2010 drives about a year ago..My setup is rutex 2010 drives with 1000 line US Digital encoders and Mach 3. Everything has been working great for the past year. However, I went to jog the machine today and when I turn on the power to the motors the Z axis rammed right into the table top, I think I need to adjust my limit switch. I checked my encoder connections and they seem to be fine. Could this be a card issue or maybe an encoder issue? I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this. Thanks...

The servo needs a signal to move. The encoder sees the movement and sends pulses to indicate that the movement is/Has taken place. So if you have movement when applying power to the unit, I would suspect the card as the first source of the problem. The encoder would be suspect number 2.

Thanks Jerry....The problem was with the card. I swithced it out with my x axis and it worked fine. Sent it off to Tom at Rutex today. He is going to take care of it for me.

It was most likely a shorted output driver on the card.
