Hello all, I did some search one ENCO, but i don't know which kind of drill bits will work on aluminum. I brought a drill bit earlier, but i didn't know it was for drilling ground or wall. Please help me to find the drill bits. Size: 1.25" .75" .25" thank you |

| Aluminum is pretty forgiving when drilling, most any HSS (high Speed Steel) drill bit will work fine, either 118 or 135 degree, split point is standard now days. Be frequent in bringing the bit out of the hole to remove the cuttings. I would stay away from reduced shank if at all possible. What equipment are you using to drill with? 1.250 is quite a drill and would be quite expensive, you may find it easier to drill say 3/4" then bore it on a mill. Ken |

| If your drilling deep holes into alum. the chips will have a tendency to "stick" to the bit and not come out of the hole, therfore plugging the bit. This can be reduced with some lubricant while drilling. Also, Tin coated bits may help with drilling alum. I ALWAYS use a coolant when drilling steel or other hard metals. Although it's messy, your drill bits will last ALOT longer. |
