I was planning on using steel tubing for my project, but I was playing around with some acrylic and am really suprised at how rigid it came out. I made a piece of tube with 0.50 inch thick acrylic making a 2x3 inch tube. Has anyone used acrylic like this? I have a lot of scrap like this laying around the garage. |

| The problem is that over time small cracks appear in acrylic especially at stress points and vibration in the machine will accelerate that process. I have seen a small circuit board type router made from acrylic but I am not sure if it was ever finished. As the saying goes " You will never know if you do not try." Jason |
