Naming your machine (and hold down stuff)

Well I've send my machine to do a few tasks for me now. And is doing great.. I've now been able to do tasks that otherwise I would not be able to do at the same time as if I were doing the cutting my machine was doing at the same time. (ie machine finishes a piece and I can router it while it's cutting the next)..

Which leads me to think the machine needs a name. Like Chuck or Harry or something as he is working pretty hard for me. Or when the wife calls I can say.. Chuck is busy be up in a min.. or something..

Anyway below is a pic of some of it's handy work..

note the portercable 7518 router now mounted.. And those clamping devices are from http://www.eemersontool.com. Those are the double sided 50" ones I think. Although I have a bunch of other sizes that can bolt to the table with slide in toilet T bolts slid in to the aluminum extruded housing of the clamp. Sweet devices. Especially if you have repeat parts to insert to your zero (like repeating the cut of a sign or something.)

Mine is "The Time Machine" Seems like when I get to fiddling etc - time just disappears! And when I go out to use it, she (who must be obeyed) knows I have no idea of when I'll return.

Well I hope my machine gives back the time taken to make it in time saved making things.

Although now that you mention it. It will probably be a while before the break even mark.. dang..

My system is made up of found parts, experiments, and looks pretty bad. It works great, just looks bad.

I named it "Butt Ugly Router". It fits. It has its' own milled name sign.

I call my Sam for Samantha....that way the gf has no idea when I'm working late with Sam....*chuckle*
