photo copier steppers

Anyone tried salvaging steppers out of a photo copier [xerox style]?

They can work, you will find anywhere from 80 oz/inch to 200 oz/inch inside.
However you normally not find info about the steppers since they are manufactured for the copier company.

Thanks for the reply. I've been offered a couple different machines already. I'll see what I can find out on the steppers when I get into them.

Strip the skate bearings (608 series) as well.

I'll probably strip anything and everything I can from them. I've heard there is some good rods, power supply, even some aluminium to melt down.

There was at one time a thread on copier steppers. I think it was something like "rading photocopiers for steppers".

My god that was alot of work. Got 3 smaller steppers, and from what I've read, 3 BIG servo motors. Kept the power supply, BUNCH of bearings, gears, belts, and misc. other hardware. Planning on using the chassis to put my finished router on, has a couple shelves to store stuff.

Krash, Next time make sure you use a cordless screwdriver. It makes it a LOT easier/faster.

Darn screws they used were CHEAP. was stripping the heads on em with the regualr screw driver, electric one woulda been worse. I forgot to mention the nice sets of roller chains [like a bicycle chain] that I got, 2 different sizes, I also kept all the cogs/gears that went with them. Thinking of ebaying the odds and ends as "robot parts" .
