Can a 3 axis router be accurately controlled using leadscrews of varying TPI? I can get a 48" leadscrew from a bridgeport milling machine as well as a couple of other misc screws that I don't think have matching TPI. Would controlling these be handled by the software? I am new here and have been poking around for a couple of weeks. I am getting ready to start my first build and I'm trying to line up all my parts that I'll need to purchase. |

| Yes you can have all 3 axis running different pitch screws. The software should work it all out provided you give it the correct settings. I use Mach 3 and have all 3 axis on different pitches. It's been ok for what I've done with it. |

| OK the screw turned out to be an 1 1/4", 5 pitch... bigger than I wanted to mess with. He gave me three 3' 3/4" stainless steel 10pitch threaded rods which I think will be perfect for my first build to get the mechanics down and give me something to play with. SO now that I have the rods, what is everyone using to mount them? I have not found much info in my searches for mounting bearings and what not. |

| ya in theory for my machine I really didn't need a 1100oz motor on my Z I suppose but have them on X and Y as well and Y probably didn't need it since the way it was geared and the weight of the z axis.. But having = power on all the axis are nice and the motors are not over worked..hehe The software should alow different acceleration curves that are capiable given your motor and gearing combo. Just a matter of tuning although I just set it to what seems to work and let it go.. b. |
