Is 0.650" too large a pitch for a diy router?

There a couple on ebay right now...

Ball screw or lead screw?
Need to cut to tight tolerances?
More info needed

Buy me a Beer?

Depends on a lot of things, but should work fine if you have enough power to spin it. You could always gear it down with belts and pulleys.

I have some 250 oz-in servo motors.

With servos, you shouldn't have any problems. Just use gear reduction with pulleys and belts to achieve your desired rapid speed.

well i dont know what the resolution on a servo is, but if you gear it down 10:1 then that would spin the screw at something like 350rpm, and that would be about 227 ipm rapid... and then you could take the # of "steps" (for lack of not knowing the right term) and multiply it 10 and then take that # and devide your .65 by it, and that would give you the best resolution that you should be able to do.... so just for example, if the motor had 200 steps per revolution then your max res would be .000325 inches... thats very good in my book...
