Don't know how many of you are using mach.. But I was having trouble with rapids on my new gantry mill. Servos being jittery at high speed (after a slight computer change).. Anyway the jiddery was not to apparent through the axis running on the ball screws (love joys dampened the jirk)
But the one on x going throug the 10:1 thompson was terriable ..
Anyway what ever changed in the v2 of mach 3 made EVERYTHING smooth out.
I can now do greater then 250-300ipm rapids on Y and Z ( mind you my Y screw is some 60+ " long)
And I can shoot the gantry back and forth at 800+ ipm Might even go to 1000 just to see what that kinda speed looks like..
Just Exciting to me seeing I was moving from the 150's and jirking around to more what I was expecting out of the design..
It's SWEET!!! now.. The rack and pinion drive is better then I thought.. Got gears to go 3:4 to the main drive after the thompson thinking that is was I needed to smooth things out but guess I don't need it. Will keep that ratio since I think that will be easier on the motor.
