Anyone in, near Houston?

I am new to this site. Been reading for a few weeks now and have decided I HAVE to build a router. I am looking for anyone within say 200 or so miles of Houston who would be willing to give a personal tour of the machine they built. I have not decided what size of which design to build. I would just like to see one in person.

Project5k - 4'x8' steel frame router...I would call that ambitious. That is something in my futrue I hope. I look forward to seeing it completed.

Joe2000che - Your post were some of the first I read here, Spent an entire Sunday morning reading it all and was very impressed. The fact that you did all the work and then shared for free, I think that states alot for your character. I have downloaded your drawings but at present all I can do with them is look at them.

Massajamesb - I looked back and saw that you built a torch cutter. That is something that looks like it would work for us at the shop. I will have to hit my boss up for the funds and time to put something together.

I would love to see something running. If anyone wants to give a tour let me know. I am off and at home most weekends when the seae are too rough to go out.

i actually ended up scaling mine down to a 3'x3' working area... hey joe, any chance i could make a field trip and see what you got?

massajamesb - We have a Enco mill/drill at work. I have been there for about 4 yrs now and have seen it used maybe 5 times. I am trying to buy it from them so I can make some parts then eventually convert to CNC. I am waiting for the owner to decide if he wants to let it go or not. So far not much luck. It would be a nice little machine to start some mill work with. Are you doing a full size mill?

project5k - 3x3? Right now I think the biggest I can see in my future would be something that will cut 2'3""x4'. That would be 1/2 sheet of the material I am using. I would really like to see the Joecnc2006r-2, of all the MDF designs I have seen here I think I like his the best so far.

No. I am shooting for a smaller Grizzly mill right now, then maybe a bigger one later. All depends on what I can horse trade for
Not to mention I have two Hobbycnc boards laying around left over from my torch table, gotta use them on something, right?

At this point I would take any small mill to play with. Since finding this site I decided that I HAVE to build a CNC something before I die...LOL. I just figured a router would be the most versatile for me right now.
