Anybody seen or used these rails

Came accrss these, low profile rails and carriages.

Cost is very good I worked out that two 27mm (1 1/8") wide rails and two carriages on each 300mm long (for z axis) would cost £67.50stg from RS components who are not known to be cheap for anything over here.

Waiting on reply direct from IGUS.

The rails are available up to 3100mm (10ft ish).

They do a rail/carriage that is 80mm (3 1/4") wide, I wonder if you could use this a z axis on its own.?

Don't know about these specific bearings, but semi-professional machines like step-four use slide type bearings (the round ones). If its good enough for them.... . I've heard that slide types are less dust-sensitive than ball bearings and dampen vibrations better.

I used Igus slides on my CNC foam Cutter. I like them.

Check out the w series slides from Igus. They are super stout and come in 40mm and 80mm wide. about $85 US I think per carriage and the rail is pretty cheap...$40 I think for 1440mm. Totally enough for a Z axis.
